Ria's Remains

My first internship after college was at Dieu Donne Papermill and that’s where I made these pieces — like the Wassaic Project, Dieu Donne gives workshop time to their interns. As a young artist, this was transformative. Back when their facility was on Broome St I got to help edition a beautiful piece by Glen Ligon which was totally amazing.

These pieces, Ria’s Remains, are an outgrowth of work I was doing in college. Ria is a very very close friend, and this was a strange way of encapsulating her. She is very tough, these are very delicate.

Reflections - The Stories We Tell Ourselves

Silkscreen of a human hand, palm-side facing up, and fingers extended.
Silkscreen of two hands pressed together at the palm with a ceramic disk pressed between them. The disk is visible due to transparent image overlay similar to an x-ray.
